Ken Ham Event Cancelled By Oklahoma University
After being inundated with complaints from the LGTB community The University of Central Oklahoma student Government group cancelled Ken Ham’s speaking engagement.
Ken Ham is the president of Answers in Genesis and founder of the popular Creation Museum and Ark Encounter. Ham is well known for teaching Creationism and Apologetics.
The event that was scheduled for March 5th in the university’s Constitution Hall was titled “Genesis and the State of the Culture”.
“I find it highly ironic that after being booked to speak in the school’s Constitution Hall, our constitutional right to free speech and the exercise of religion, guaranteed under the First Amendment, have been denied,” Ham said.
Paul Blair, the Pator of Fairview Baptist Church in Edmond Oklahoma who arranged the speech with the student group revealed the school spends tax dollars on events like drag queen shows and a safe sex carnival but when it comes to a creationist speaking about Darwinian evolution or the literal Creation account of Genesis that’s off limits.
“A small but vocal group on campus put up a fuss about my talk and the university caved in, tearing up the contract and contradicting it’s policies of promoting ‘free inquiry’ and ‘inclusiveness’ on campus,” Ham said.
Pastor Blair said after the cancellation Ken Ham will instead speak at his church which is close to the campus on March 5th.
”Since the doors of our public university are closed, we will open our doors for interested students and members of our community to hear what Ken has to share,“ Blair said.
