Walgreens Receiving Backlash After Adopting Transgender Bathroom Policy
Walgreens announced that customers at more than 8,100 stores nationwide can now use the bathroom of their choosing regardless of their gender. Walgreens announced it’s new policy in November to it’s employees which stated: “All individuals have a right to use restroom facilities that correspond to the individual’s gender identity, regardless of the individual’s sex assigned at birth.” The change is just now making headlines because of a woman that was denied access to the woman’s restroom in a Los Angeles Walgreens because she looked like a man.
Christian organization The American Family Association is fighting back against the company saying that men will be allowed “full and unrestricted access to women’s restrooms in all of it’s 8,100 stores.” The AFA is asking people to call the Walgreens’ corporate office to voice their concerns and also to complain about the policy to individual store managers.
The AFA is asking people to sign a petition urging the company to “immediately reverse it’s dangerous policy that allows men unrestricted access into women’s restrooms.” Walgreens should have taken notice from Target when they made the same move 2 years ago which ended up costing them nearly 10 billion dollars.
